From July 19 - 26th we took our last trip before we have children. We stayed at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. With all meals included, Steph finally ate like she was eating for two.
We visited two famous Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza and Tulum. I was very impressed with Chichen Itza because the Mayans understood astronomy, astrology, mathematics and other interesting things. They used their knowledge to their advantage in the design of their buildings. For example, at Chichen Itza one can stand in front of the steps of the temple and clap. When the echo bounces back it sounds like a bird call. The echo from another building sounds like a rattle snake. There is a point between the two buildings where you can clap once and hear both sounds. The combined sounds represent the infamous feathered serpent. In addition, at the spring and fall equinox the sun casts light on the building that looks like a serpent is moving down the steps. I thought all of it was very impressive.
On other days we went to a water park, took a ferry out to an island and just hung around on the beach. It was a relaxing, fun trip but we're glad to be back and look forward to raising our girl now!

Man, that water looks nice!
My family took a trip to Central America a few years ago and it's one of the funnest things I've ever done. That's cool that you two went. Now the trick is to get out and do that after the new Miss Shelly is born.
